Nike’s Chicken-Inspired Air Max 90 Is (Almost) Finger-Licking Good

Nike’s Chicken-Inspired Air Max 90 Is (Almost) Finger-Licking Good

Ahead of what’ll surely be a Nike Air Max Day for the history books, the Nike Air Max 90 has appeared in yet another arrangement inspired by Japanese convenience store nourishment. A chicken-themed style will soon join a previously-teased pair laden with nods to onigiri.

Akin to its predecessor, the forthcoming option features patterns and textures throughout its Tinker Hatfield-designed upper. Instead of boasting an understated greyscale palette, however, the newest member to the playful collection indulges in a vibrant “Yellow/White” duo complemented by “Pure Platinum” TPU accents. Although the eye-catching upper accurately nods to packaging for the Famichiki, it is only half the story, as removable layers at the toe box and around the collar reveal golden brown suede resembling the fried, finger-licking goodness of the hot snack. Sole units forgo direct nods to Japanese mart products, but introduce a cream, semi-translucent outsole to the Air Max. Lastly, insoles alternate between traditional “NIKE AIR MAX” branding and a certification barcode, but both include high-resolution images of tongs, the item used to pick up the delectable muse.

Enjoy official images of the pair here below, and expect the shoes to hit Nike SNKRS as March 26th inches closer.

Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the Air Force 1 is celebrating its 39th anniversary in style.
