These adidas Stan Smiths Are Fucking Awesome

Fucking Awesome has been a staple of the skatewear scene for decades, but their footprint in footwear is only about half as old. Since their first adidas capsule in 2013, the Three Stripes has become their foremost partner in sneakers, steadily checking off collaborations on both the brand’s earnest performance wear and lifestyle silhouettes alike. Easily their widest work came on a 2019 four-pack of Fucking Awesome adidas Stan Smith colorways, and some six years later, Jason Dill and his label return to the model.

The connections between this all-black edition and that quartet of looks from the turn of the decade go deeper than just the model at play. From that inaugural link-up on the tennis staple, the removal of the Three Stripes perforations at the quarter and subsequent replacement with a metallic Fucking Awesome stamp remains the center of this Stan Smith design. As does the one-note tonal palette, of course swapping from bright accent shades to the stealthy one seen here. From there, slighter changes like the crackled texture of the leather foundation, a swap back to the typical rear panelling rather than the askew interpretation from 2019, and a patent leather heel cup complete this fresh make-up.

The Fucking Awesome adidas Stan Smith is available now via retailers like Extra Butter, carrying a $120 MSRP. Word on a wider adidas.com launch hasn’t come about just yet, but keep it locked in to our Sneaker Release Dates page to be the first to know when it does.
