adidas’ archives are filled to the brim with a wide range of unique sneakers from their seventy-five year history. The brand has a knack for picking out obscure models to retrofit for the modern day, and this year they’ve added the Artillery basketball shoe to the list of styles joining their current lineup.
The original adidas Artillery is a remnant of the brand’s ’80s and ’90s basketball sneakers, using an excessive amount of panelling and known as one of the tallest ball shoes of all time. Seriously, the ankles on the OG are ridiculously high, built to offer as much stability and support to athletes as possible. However, much like their Forum 84 release from a few years ago, they’ve crafted an updated version of the Artillery that removes all of that padding and simplifies it into a lifestyle-minded low-top sneaker.
The new Artillery 24 is a wonderful change of pace for the iconic basketball shoe. After removing the high ankle collars, the shoe looks a bit like one of their retro skate models, and offers a much more approachable silhouette. The first pair we’ve seen of the updated model is dressed in a simple colorway, mixing white leather uppers with black accents, grey suede, and off-white shades on the laces and soles to give it a vintage look. Finally, a hint of EQT green adds a nice splash of color to the heel construction.
ADIDAS ARTILLERY 24 “OFF-WHITE” RELEASE INFORMATION
adidas’ latest modified retro basketball shoe has not been officially scheduled to release yet, but is expected to drop sometime late in Summer 2024. The Artillery 24 is a low-top version of the classic sneaker, and will be available from both adidas and select retailers with an expected price tag of $110.
