Olivia Kim’s Betty Boop-inspired Nike Air Force 1 Revealed In Alternate Friends And Family Edition

Olivia Kim’s Betty Boop-inspired Nike Air Force 1 Revealed In Alternate Friends And Family Edition

Olivia Kim’s “No Cover” collection with Nike takes us on a wild night out through various nightclub atmospheres, with her eclectic tastes reflected on the distinguished designs and of these archival silhouettes. The entire set features details that nod to raves, hip-hop clubs, and everything in between, but as it turns out, another muse from Olivia’s childhood played a bit of a role in the design. The shoes are indeed partly inspired by none other than Betty Boop, the voluptuous character from the Doonesbury comic strip that was a major part of the 80s and 90s pop culture. The retail versions will indeed come with a hang-tag of Betty’s face, with her signature wink replaced by a mini Swoosh logo.

Furthermore, Nike is celebrating this “No Cover” collection with a special Friends-and-Family edition of the Air Force 1, revealed here by Nike Master Trainer Kirsty Godso. The shoes opt for a clean all-white look with see-through panels at the toe-box and mid-foot (fitting of the vinyl-heavy rave fashion), with Betty’s Swoosh’ed face embroidered on the heel. These won’t see a retail release, but mark your calendars for October 31st for the Nordstrom drop and November 8th for the global release of the retail pair.
