In today’s college game, you’d be hard-pressed to not find a pair of Kobe 6 “Grinches” or the Nike GT Cut on the court, but back in the 80s adidas Basketball dominated the collegiate space by way of the adidas Rivalry. While the pair’s low-top counterpart is employed in a much more frequent fashion, the Rivarly Hi looks to its decades-old roots for its chosen reappearance, now coordinating a Chicago-inspired scheme infused with vintage aesthetics.
From the “Glory Red” mid-foot stripes finished in a chenille fabric to the tumbled leather heel counter and tongue tab’s chosen aged cream ensemble, the pair coordinates OG interpolations throughout. Casting its base layer in a crisp “Core White”, the latter bright red hues of the center foot begin to stretch across the tongue construction, mesh heel window and vamp while stark jet-black contrasts line the collar and tongue before outfitting the base of the toe box and sectioned midsole. Accompanied by adjacently placed embroidered trefoil insignias, a “Sail”-treated sole unit concludes the collegiate throw back.
While we await the pair’s release date, enjoy official images of the adidas Rivalry Hi “Glory Red” below in the meantime.
For more 3-Stripes footwear, the adidas D Rose 1 Restomod “All-Star” is currently available.
