Original article published November 5th, 2024: One of the year’s most anticipated shoe drops of the year is ready to land soon. Kids Of Immigrants and Nike kicked off their partnership in recents years, and in that short time they’ve managed to work diligently to create one of the most compelling collaborations of 2024 (some deem it the shoe of the year). We’ll get into the finer details of this collaboration in our upcoming exclusive interview with Daniel Buezo of KOI, but for now, check out the official images of both upcoming pairs.
Without revealing too much of the inside details, the Air Max Sunder by Kids Of Immigrants has strong influence from the early 1990s-era Nike ACG. The two confirmed colorways emanate that classic outdoor, utility aesthetic that has been and continues to be a staple of NYC youth fashion. This vision works fluidly with the Air Max Sunder; it’s the perfect canvas for KOI to truly express their brand identity through a Nike shoe for the first time. This is just the start of a long-lasting, fruitful relationship between the Swoosh and one of the most organic, community-centric brands on the market today.
The shoes will come packaged in a throwback brown/orange shoebox from the early-mid 2000s era. An added insert calls out to phone cards; if you are a kid of an immigrant, you just know. There are far too many details packed into this design that we’ll unveil with Kids Of Immigrants in the coming weeks.
For now, Sneaker News can confirm the release date of November 21st, 2024 is not correct, despite reports from other sites. The actual release date is still TBD, but we can confirm that the shoes are indeed dropping this Holiday 2024 season.
