Dunks Not Dead: Nike Makes A Bold Statement With Upcoming Release

Shoe critics and resellers have loudly claimed that Dunks are dead. Contrarily, Nike is objecting to that with this upcoming release that ties in one of the most important eras in music history.

If you still love Nike Dunks, then now’s the best time to go in and scoop up some solid releases for what will likely be all-time lows in pricing. It’s only a matter of time before the trend cycle makes a full revolution, because let us remind you, the Dunk “died” once before in the mid-late 2000s, only to come back stronger than ever.

While this upcoming release isn’t a direct commentary on the history of Dunk trends, the “Dunks Not Dead” certainly brings up the conversation. Punk music and fashion itself was a statement against the mainstream, with tattered military gear sending the provocative message.

In the case of this Dunk, you’ll find familiar olive green shades across the nylon overlay, while black leather and rip-stop on the tongue add to the surplus aesthetic. Tattered laces and army-style font continue the theme, while pins and patches add the final touch to punk-themed design.

With the recent surfacing of the Dunk Low “CBGB”, Nike could also be working on a music-themed pack of Dunks for Spring 2025.
