Edison Chen Focuses On Tennis Heritage With The adidas Stan Smith Espadrille

Edison Chen is adding another model to his budding CLOT x adidas catalog. Joining the Superstar and Gazelle among re-imagined Originals is the iconic adidas Stan Smith tennis shoe, unveiled here in two deconstructed colorways.

If you’ve been keeping up with the CLOT x adidas partnership thus far, the overarching design theme should strike a familiar note. Just like the inaugural CLOT adidas Gazelle, both options feature a re-imagined “Espadrille” sole consisting of jute fabric and visible stitching.

One colorway odes to quintessential Stan Smith makeup in white and green leather, while its counterpart features black suede and high-pile chenille fabric over the backtab. Both styles feature a deconstructed upper void of padding, resulting in a slimmer shape overall. The changes are particularly noticeable around the toe box and heel, both of which appear far narrower than usual. Shared branded elements include Stan Smith tongue tags, co-branded insoles, and stitched Chinese characters on the right side of the toe box.

If interested, expect a release coinciding with one of the biggest tennis events of the year this July. See official images below and visit our Sneaker Release Dates page to preview more upcoming adidas collabs.
