We know, we know — “Black Cat” is a term chiefly associated with just one brand. Yet there’s no denying that consumer fervor towards black-on-black footwear has prompted other players in the industry to take notice and shift their product to meet that demand. An unexpected adopter is now rising to the moment, as the New Balance 1500 cops its own all-over black edition.
As with any shoe that takes on the concept, there isn’t a ton to dissect visually; premium Made in England suede and pigskin suedes deliver a jet black upper that continues through the sole and additional trim. Generally speaking, it’s a rejection of the refined airs that the silhouette typically takes to, instead embracing a more defined streetstyle formula. Of course we can’t guarantee the same success for the New Balance 1500, but NB’s previous stealthy wagers have paid dividends: not one, not two, but three lights-out New Balance 9060s became sell-out propositions.
The New Balance 1500 Made in England “Black” has already started trickling out to overseas retailers, with a stateside launch via NewBalance.com expected sometime in the Summer/Fall 2025 range. MSRP is set at $240.
