Is the MLB All-Star game back? After a few years of languid showings, a tie result at the end of the regular period allowed the great American pastime to show off its splashiest rule change, leaving the game to trios of hitters on each side in a Home Run Derby style tie-breaker. Though Gleyber Torres and his AL peers weren’t the ones leaving Atlanta covered in glory, for our purposes the Detroit Tiger is the biggest headline, dusting off a recently acquired version of the Nike Book 1 “Chapter One” throughout Tuesday night’s festivities.
You won’t have to venture too far into the backlog to find the origin story behind this piece of PE heat. At the tail end of June, Devin Booker headed to his hometown park, making the most of his visit in the process. On top of tossing the first pitch and potentially previewing his next collab, the Suns superstar outfitted the league-leaders with these exact cleated versions. Outside of the obvious shift to performance traction underfoot, borrowing the sole unit of the Nike Alpha Huarache Elite 4, the ultra-limited debut look remains in place, replete with reptilian leather panels and an all-over orange outfit.
There’s no doubt that these cleated versions will remain exclusive to the All-Star and his D-town teammates, but as with much of the player exclusives we cover, there’s plenty to take in from afar. Catch in-action shots embedded below.
