Nike might not have a motorsports division anymore, but racing aesthetics are still known to influence the brand’s sneaker design process. Earlier this year we saw Nike unleash an Air Max 90 “Racing Pack” consisting of around half a dozen colorways; joined by their speedy color blocking and NASCAR-inspired insoles. Now that the Air Max 95 has fully taken over for its 30th anniversary run, it’s borrowing the theme for itself.
Emerging alongside a “Green Strike” colorway, this newly-uncovered grade school pair keeps it low-key with a “Black/Smoke Grey” leather upper. There are two key racing-inspired qualities to note; striped lace loops reminiscent of car decals, and “95” graphics on the insoles a la the aforementioned Air Max 90 pack. In fulfilling a timeless “Bred” color combo, “University Red” hits appear on the Swoosh, tongue, outsole, and big bubble Air units underfoot.
The Nike Air Max 90 “Racing” in “Black/Smoke Grey/University Red” is due out Fall 2025, priced at $145 in grade school sizing. It remains to be seen if adult sizes will also be available, so stay tuned for any and all updates.
