The Spike Forty is Spike Lee‘s third silhouette with Jordan Brand. His latest set of kicks follows the Jordan Spizike and Jordan Son of Mars sneakers. This time around, the shoe takes cues from the Air Jordan 5, featuring a clear outsole, reflective material, lace toggle and additional details on the lace tips and tongue.
“The modern, crafted textile and molded TPU-based upper represent Jordan DNA, while a phylon midsole with heel-unit Zoom Air adds comfort,” according to Nike.
The filmmaker is known as one of the New York Knicks’ biggest fans, so it’s no surprise that two of the Spike Forty colorways include orange and royal blue.
The 2015-16 NBA season kicked off Tuesday night with some of the league’s major players debuting new sneakers. The Knicks will make their first appearance of the season tonight, Oct. 28, and will take the court in New York for its first home game on Oct. 29. Watch out for Lee, who notoriously sits courtside, possibly sporting his newest Jordan collaboration.
The Spike Forty is available in the total orange/game royal colorway today at select retail stores and on Jordan.com. The sneakers retail for $180.
Releases will continue throughout the holiday season, with the game royal/total orange launching on Nov. 4, the white/fire red on Nov. 18 and black/fire red on Dec. 12.
