Portland Airport Carpet Inspires Latest Adidas D Lillard 1 Release
Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard is the face of the franchise and beloved in the city, but his Adidas signature shoe received a makeover with a print that has been a part of the city landscape long before he ever hit the Moda Center court.
The brand is set to release the D Lillard 1 PDX Carpet Edition, an edition of the signature shoe adorned with the print of the Portland International Airport’s iconic teal print carpet. The iconic carpet, complete with red, lavender and purple dots and dark blue lines, spent nearly 30 years in the airport before being removed this year. Before being removed, the airport allowed locals to take photos with the carpet for an event called PDX Carpet Fest.
The carpet’s pattern is seen on the teal portion of the shoe’s upper, above the purple snakeskin that makes up the rest of its boot. The shoe also features purple on the Techfit booty – with DAME and #PDXCARPET in white across the right and left, respectively – and laces. The shoe is rounded out with a white and gray outsole.

The shoe will be available May 23 and have a $125 price tag. It will be available in the Foot Locker location in Portland’s Washington Square, Eastbay and via the Adidas website.
