April Fools’ Day came a little early this year to the Golden State Warriors team, as Andre Iguodala paired up with Lyft to prank fellow Warriors teammate and Nike athlete Festus Ezeli.
In a video of the prank, Ezeli hops into his ride, and the driver turns on a fake sports radio program that says Ezeli is being cut from the team. Initially, Ezeli looks as though he’s brushing off the radio rumors, but the stunt goes one step further when Warriors players send him text messages with well wishes after his supposed release. The shock begins to set in. “My teammates are texting me saying, ‘It’s been a pleasure working with you,’ ” said Ezeli. “What does that mean?”
Iguodala catches up with his friend to reveal the whole thing was just a prank, delivering cake and balloons, too. Not surprisingly, Ezeli launches the cake at Iguoala before even taking a taste.
