Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Brooks‘ sneaker release ahead of the TCS New York City Marathon is dressed in newsprint.
The brand unveiled today its New York City-themed iteration of one of its acclaimed performance shoes, the Adrenaline GTS 17, dubbed the “Gray Lady.” The style will be available in men’s and women’s sizing starting Oct. 21 and retail for $130. The shoe will be sold at specialty running stores in New York, at the Brooks Running Booth at the marathon expo, online at www.brooksrunning.com/grayladygts.
“For our third New York-inspired shoe, we wanted to meld the iconic status of New York news culture with the unique boroughs that make running in this world-class city so powerful,” Shane Downey, global director of Brooks, said in a statement. “The Gray Lady Adrenaline GTS 17 captures the energy that defines the city, people and race course of New York.”
The shoe features fonts reminiscent of many iconic New York newspapers in an effort to pay tribute to the five boroughs and its local attractions. Keeping with the newspaper theme are the insoles, which feature crossword puzzles.
Although the shoe features a new exciting look, it is road ready and built with performance in mind. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 17 was constructed with support and cushioning in mind, and features the brand’s DNA midsole, a Progressive Diagonal Rollbar made to help the body transition to its natural alignment, and an updated V-Groove to absorb and disperse impact away from the foot.
