Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is ready to retire his new Yeezy 350 Boost cleats — unless Kanye West plans on footing the bill.

The Adidas athlete said at a Sept. 15  press conference that he refuses to wear them after he was fined $6,000 by the NFL for playing in the shoes on Sept. 11 during his team’s triumph over the Chicago Bears.

The new “Turtledove” spikes retail for $250, and quickly sold out on Adidas.com after they dropped on Sept. 15.

The league’s uniform policy has strict rules regarding the colors of players’ footwear.

According to the policy: “Approved shoe styles will contain one team color, which must be the same for all players on a given team. A player may wear an unapproved standard football shoe style as long as the player tapes over the entire shoe to conform to his team’s selected dominant color.”

Still, the pricey footwear could make another appearance the next time Hopkins is in action — with one caveat. “Only if Kanye wants to pay the fine,” he said.

During the Week 1 games, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins all wore the Yeezy 350 Boost cleats.

Last week, Hopkins was eager to hit the field in the shoes, writing on Instagram, “Next level. Thank you @adidasfballus and Kanye West.”
