Zappos.com is getting its game on.
As part of its ongoing relationship with professional runner and former Olympian Nick Symmonds, the online fashion-and-shoe site has announced a charitable initiative with Symmonds and Brooks Running to support and showcase sponsored athletes.
A percentage of sales from select Brooks products on Zappos.com will be donated to the Track & Field Athletes Association (TFAA) during the month of August. The TFAA is a nonprofit whose mission is to support professional track and field athletes nationwide.
Symmonds, who signed with Brooks in 2014, is well-known for advocating for the rights of track athletes off the field of play. Back in 2012, a marketing agency paid $11,100 to place a logo on his arm. In April, he upped the price by opening an auction starting at 99 cents that closed with T-Mobile CEO John Legre’s offer of $21,800 on eBay for nine inches of the former Olympian’s right shoulder.
In addition to Symmonds, Zappos signed NFL player Ronnie Stanley earlier this year and will continue to build its athlete-influencer program in the coming months. The company is passionate about supporting athletes and will work closely with individuals to help them serve their communities.
