Kate Middleton pulled off a chic style statement during a somber occasion.

The Duchess of Cambridge made an elegant appearance on Friday wearing a pair of Gianvito Rossi pumps at the Somme Centenary Commemorations in Thiepval, France, alongside husband Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry.

She teamed the footwear with a blush Alexander McQueen dress that featured lace detail, a Mulberry purse and a Sylvia Fletcher for Lock and Company hat.

The beauty’s choice in heels was rather wise for engagements that require a lot of standing and walking. Featuring a 3.5-inch heel, the suede pumps retail for $670.

The young royals were joined by French president Francois Hollande as they observed the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Memorial, where 70,000 British and Commonwealth soldiers with no known grave are commemorated.
