The projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft is now an Under Armour athlete.
With the draft quickly approaching, Under Armour announced on Monday that it has signed University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward. While at Miami, Ward — who also played college football at Washington State and Incarnate Word — passed for 4,313 yards with 39 touchdowns. He was also a finalist for the 2024 Heisman Heisman Memorial Trophy, which is given to the country’s most outstanding player, and was the winner of both the 2024 Davey O’Brien Award and the 2024 Manning Award.
“Joining Under Armour is more than just a sponsorship deal. It’s a partnership. I’m grateful to become part of the UA team,” Ward said in a statement. “I grew up watching my favorite players wear Under Armour, rocking cleats and gloves that elevate their game. To be part of the brand’s new era feels very full circle and I hope I can inspire the next generation of kids watching.”
In addition to Ward, Under Armour announced several other signings from this year’s draft class, including University of Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III, University of South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori, University of Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden and University of Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker.
“Football is where Under Armour began. It’s in our DNA. Signing this class of elite players is more than a milestone, it’s a statement of who we are and where we’re going,” Under Armour senior vice president of global sports marketing Sean Eggert said in a statement. “These athletes are pushing the game forward in every sense, and we’re all-in on helping them reach the next level — with the best athlete and product innovation, and a brand that believes in their rise.”
Under Armour senior manager of athlete marketing Guilian Gary added, “This class represents who we are at our core. Each one of these athletes has a unique story, an unmistakable edge, and a drive that mirrors what Under Armour stands for. Signing them isn’t just about performance; it’s about aligning with people who embody the next era of the game. This is a big step forward for our football vision and we’re proud to stand beside them.”
Monday’s announcement comes one month after Under Armour revealed it had revived its relationship with the NFL with a new, longterm partnership becoming an official footwear and glove partner. Under Armour once had a licensing deal with the league for those products from 2006 until after the 2020 season, but it ended the relationship as it worked to restructure the business and cut costs.
