Justin Timberlake’s William Rast fashion label will be singing a new shoe tune very soon.
The fashion label, founded in 2005 by the singer and good pal Trace Ayala, has signed a five-year licensing agreement with New York City-based Cobbler’s Kitchen Inc.
Cobbler’s Kitchen was founded by Udi Avshalomov, a footwear industry veteran who once owned 14 athletic stores under the Training Camp banner.
Under terms of the agreement, Avshalomov’s firm will design and manufacture a comprehensive line of sneakers for William Rast, priced from $90 to $200.
The collection, described as “couture classics,” will hit stores such as Lord & Taylor in the U.S, Selfridges abroad and independents like Sportie LA in May.
“We looked at the sneaker world and many of the core classics, combined with the marketability of the personalities and strength of the William Rast brand, and felt we could put a couture twist on them,” Avshalomov, CEO of Cobbler’s Kitchen, told Footwear News.
Cobbler’s Kitchen also has footwear licenses with Gorilla USA and Sean John, the men’s lifestyle brand backed by music mogul Sean Combs.
Since its beginning, the William Rast label, mostly known for its premium line of jeans, has touted its Americana vibe. While reports surfaced two years ago that Timberlake was ready to close the label, it came back in a big way in the fall of 2013, and continues to be rooted in — and inspired by — freedom and music.
