Here’s what you need to know about fashion and footwear for Sept. 6-11.
New York Fashion Week Kicks Off
It’s that time of year again: New York Fashion Week kicks off Wednesday and runs through Sept. 15. Many designers are changing up schedules and offering in-season presentations, turning to social media to host their looks and offering more consumer-first shows, making it a bit of a stretch to call it a week for the spring ’17 collections. Tom Ford makes his return to NYFW on Wednesday, and Tommy Hilfiger’s fashion-carnival extravaganza is Friday.
Jimmy Choo Turns 20
Iconic shoe label Jimmy Choo turns 20 years old this week, and to celebrate, the brand is hosting one star-studded bash. The event features appearances by Mary J. Blige and Virgil Abloh, and it kicks off Fashion Week festivities Wednesday.
Congress Returns for 20 Days
There are only 63 days left before the general election, and Congress is headed back to work Tuesday after the summer recess. It’s doubtful any substantive moves on the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal will be brought up ahead of the fall break and Lame Duck session after the election. Congress has about 20 days instead to decide on budget issues and funding Zika.
Football Returns Thursday
It’s been a long wait for National Football League fans, but Thursday’s rematch between Super Bowl 50 teams the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos finally ushers in the 2016-17 season (and Cam Newton’s bold press-conference shoe style).
