Dua Lipa Wears the TikTok Viral Margiela’s Tabi Ballet Flats in Paris

Dua Lipa chose a shoe style that recently went viral on TikTok to step out in the City of Lights on Friday afternoon.
Sporting freshly dyed cherry-red locks and a long white puffy coat with black Maison Margiela Tabi ballet flats, the “Barbie” actress surely stood out as she traversed the streets of Paris. Not the first time she’s shown love for Margiela’s iconic Tabi silhouette — she styled a strappy pair of split-toe ballet flats with cigarette jeans and Gucci’s famous Jackie 1961 bag over the summer.

The French luxury fashion house first introduced the cleft-toe Tabi boot in 1988 and the style has had the industry talking ever since, with some loving it and others dubbing it ugly. The design reportedly takes inspiration from 15th-century Japanese split-toe socks that were believed to encourage balance.

Lipa’s Tabi ballet flats are available to shop online in black and other colors, including gray and nude. Retailing for nearly $700, the shoes are crafted from Italian ovine leather and topped off with a subtle shoelace accent.
As for the rest of her look, the “Levitating” hitmaker donned an oversized white coat featuring a sweeping hemline over a black turtleneck and extra-long medium-wash jeans with frayed edges. She effortlessly pulled the ensemble together with a dark blue Chanel shoulder bag boasting the brand’s signature double C motif in gold around the bottom.
