Rihanna‘s Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty just got another makeover, this time for fall and back-to-school.
True to form, the fashion mogul went all out for the “In Session” campaign. Photos shot by Philippa Price depict “Euphoria” star Chloe Cherry channeling the stereotypical “emo girl” while Hollywood legend Anjelica Huston steps into the role of principal.
Rihanna can also be seen modeling the two new colorways. Out now, the chunky silhouette boasting a stacked gum sole is offered in monochromatic black and red and white with a corduroy finish.
“Your whole school will be wearing the Creeper Phatty’s and this campaign plays with that vision,” Rihanna said in a statement. “We chose these colors and materials very purposefully for back-to-school. The black-on-black corduroy reminds me of my very own childhood, a uniform-approved shoe with the twist I always wish I had.” The shoes are offered in women’s, men’s, kids and infant sizes.
This latest drop follows a spring Creeper Phatty collection comprised of earthy colorways. The original Puma Creeper, a platform version of Puma’s iconic Suede sneaker, launched in September 2015 and was named Shoe of the Year by Footwear News the following year. The Creeper Phatty, equipped with an even thicker sole and puffier tongue, arrived in November 2023.
Last fall, Rihanna appeared on the cover of Footwear News’ September issue. Within the story, Puma global creative director Heiko Desens declared, “She almost rejuvenated the whole classic platform sneaker trend with the Creeper.”
Additionally, the soccer-inspired Fenty x Puma Avanti sneaker dropped last September. One of Rihanna’s takes on the classic athletic shoe included a chrome upper. Notably, the style’s design was inspired by the pentagon shape and stitching on a football.
