Lil Nas X Steps Out in Campy Balenciaga Steroid Derby Shoes at the Los Angeles Premiere of ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’

Lil Nas X attended the Los Angeles premiere of Netflix’s “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” on Thursday. Beyond Lil Nas X, notable attendees included Jay Pharoah, Kevin Bacon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eddie Murphy, Paul Reiser and Martin Lawrence. Lil Nas X also created an original song for the upcoming movie titled “Here We Go!”
The “J Christ” singer donned a pair of campy black derby shoes. The Steroid ankle-length model, designed by Balenciaga, featured bulbous capped toes, coordinating black lace-up closures, short stacked block heels and a thick tread that offered the silhouette a non-slip feel.
Retailing for $1,100, the modernized derby shoe is a campy offering for those bold enough to lace them up. Balenciaga also features a similar Steroid combat boot style, also in all-black, that retails for $1,400. The styles are comparable in silhouette due to their lace-up closures and bulbous toe detailing.

The Spanish fashion house is best known for pushing boundaries, redefining classic and otherwise simple silhouettes to fit Balenciaga’s unique design aesthetic. If laces aren’t your thing, Balenciaga also carries a Steroid Bootie in a rain boot-esque style.
Accompanying his high-camp footwear, Lil Nas X sported a collared sleeveless white tee with raw hems accompanied by light-wash ultra-baggy jeans featuring crystalized embellishments on the outside seams.
The “Old Town Road” singer is known for his bold and dynamic styling choices. The Grammy-winning singer is well-known for making dramatic statements on the red carpet, especially in custom, printed or embellished suits and gowns by designers like Christian Cowan, Richard Quinn, Andrea Rossi and more.
“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” is a 2024 action and comedy film directed by Mark Molloy set to release on July 3. The film enlists the talents of world-class stars including Eddie Murphy, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, John Ashton and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The film is part of the ever-popular “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise, which began in 1984 starring the same main cast.
