First Lady Melania Trump and President Donald Trump are heading to Rome, Italy on April 25 for the funeral of Pope Francis. As usual, the first lady kept her style chic in a long trench coat and popped in some Roger Vivier flats for the trip.
The president spoke to the press as they departed from the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC, before they headed to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to board Air Force One before departing to Europe.
Trump appeared to be waring a black dress underneath the long beige overcoat, which featured buttons down the front, a spread collar and a belted waist. For shoes, she opted for the Roger Vivier Gommettine Ballerina flats in black leather. The shoes retail for $750.
The first lady’s shoes feature the label’s iconic slanted block heels measuring 5mm, a pointed toe, the uppers are made from smooth kidskin leather, and are topped with a resin buckle in the front. The buckle features the designer’s “RV” initials on them.
Inspired by the signature Gommette silhouette, Roger Vivier introduced a new pair of ballet flats to its footwear family: the Gommettine. Vivier is credited with creating the very first stiletto heel in the 1950s, and today continues to be a favorite for celebrities thanks to their timeless and elegant designs.
Trump keeps her footwear simple and understated but often opts for luxury footwear designers like Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Chanel and others, but has a long history of wearing Roger Vivier designs. At this past weekend’s White House Egg Roll for Easter, she wore Vivier’s Trompette Pumps in gray. Take a look at first ladies wearing Roger Vivier pumps over the years below.
