Miley Cyrus is the latest celebrity to join the Tabi shoe fan club. The singer wore the split-toe shoes from the Maison Margiela and Christian Louboutin collaboration at the Grammy Awards 2024 red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Cyrus’ heels featured a yellow-gold suede upper with a metallic back and matching stiletto heels reaching at least 4 inches in height.
Cyrus’ gold chain minidress was also custom-made by Maison Margiela. “This dress took 675 hours of artisanal hand crafted work, 14,000 golden safety pins & adorned with singularly selected French antique beads,” Cyrus wrote on X.
The singer was styled by her longtime stylist Bradley Kenneth — in 2019, Kenneth designed a pair of gold heels featuring her initials, “MC,” for her to wear at the Grammys.
Cyrus’ Tabi shoe moment came just a week after Maison Margiela went viral with its spring 2024 show in Paris. The runway presentation saw the debut of John Galliano’s and Christian Louboutin’s latest shoe collection, which includes six different styles of split-toe shoes — including pumps that received an animalistic transformation with prothese-augmented heel caps to evoke the outline of hoofs.
Margiela first launched its Tabi shoes, inspired by Japanese tabi socks, in the 1980s. The silhouette has become a staple of the brand and has been embraced by many fashion enthusiasts and celebrity influencers in the past years, including Dua Lipa and Chlöe Sevigny.
Cyrus is nominated for six awards at the 2024 Grammys, including Song of the Year for “Flowers,” which she is set to perform during the event.
The 2024 Grammys, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Feb. 4, celebrates the biggest artists, albums and songs of the year. Hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, the 66th annual ceremony features performances from Billie Eilish, SZA, Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo, among others. The Recording Academy will also present Lifetime Achievement Awards to Donna Summer, N.W.A., Tammy Wynette and Gladys Knight.
