Oprah Winfrey is sticking to the theme during “The Color Purple” press tour in New York City.
On Tuesday, Winfrey was seen in Manhattan after visiting the Empire State Building with the movie cast, wearing head-to-toe lavender and accented by purple rhinestone platform sneakers.
Winfrey wore the Betsey Johnson Sidny lavender low-top sneakers that feature all-over rhinestones in different sizes, a white rubber platform sole and white laces.
The shoes were the perfect complement to her look — matching lavender silky wide-legged pants, a neck-tie wrap blouse, and a long purple and yellow ombré coat, also covered in rhinestones. She completed the look with a purple leather purse, dark purple tinted rimless sunglasses and amethyst drop earrings.
This is the second time Oprah has been spotted out in sparkly platform kicks. In November, she wore a similar look when she reunited with “The Color Purple” cast, pairing them with sparkly, coordinating purple pants and blouse. That pair was crafted by UniqueLee creations, according to the company.
Oprah often color-coordinates and brings purple elements into her wardrobe. As she recently promoted the musical remake of “The Color Purple,” which she co-produced, she’s been fully leaning into her royal-hued era. This year, she’s been seen in lavender satin pointed-toe pumps, metallic lavender pointed-toe slingback flats and plenty of purple.
In terms of footwear, Oprah often wears T-straps pumps with open or pointed toes from Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Valentino, as well as from more accessible brands like J.Crew. When she opts for casual comfort, she dons Allbirds or Vionic sneakers from Allbirds and Vionic and platform loafers by Stella McCartney.
Platform sneakers continue to be on-trend, thanks to their marrying of comfort and style, with sparkly ones a popular choice this year. Rhinestone footwear, particularly platform booties, as seen on Beyoncé and Taylor Swift and the many fans that attended their sold-out tours worldwide, surged in popularity this summer. Oprah’s long-time friend Gayle King wore a pair of silver sparkly Miu Miu platform sneakers to the Beyoncé show in Las Vegas and the F1 Academy Race in Austin.
“The Color Purple” debuts in theaters on Dec. 25, starring Fantasia, Taraji P. Henson, Halle Bailey and Ciara. The original film was directed by Steen Spielberg and released in 1985, starred Oprah and Whoopi Goldberg and was a turning point in the former’s illustrious career. It is based on the 1983 novel by Alice Walker.
