Queen Latifah surprised the audience at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Sept. 10 with a live rendition of the National Anthem before the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants game — both teams opened their seasons in prime time on “Sunday Night Football,” with the Cowboys ending the night with a 40-0 victory.
Latifah performed in a pair of white combat boots that featured a black sole. The shoe style added an edgy touch to her classic look and was the perfect choice for Latifah to walk through the field on a rainy day.
The multi-hyphenate was dressed in an ivory Gucci monogram-print suit that featured a double-breasted silhouette and front pockets. Her look was created by her longtime stylist, Jason Rembert, who has also worked with Naomi Campbell, Padma Lakshmi, Winnie Harlow, Rosario Dwason and other stars in the past.
After her rendition of the National Anthem, Latifah went viral on social media, with many complimenting her performance. Backstage, U.S. Open 2023 winner Coco Gauff praised the actress’ performance, as seen on Latifah’s team’s Instagram story. On Instagram, Kelly Clarkson, who was at the MetLife Stadium, shared videos of the performance and wrote, “Queen Latifah did such a great job with the anthem! What a multitalented artist!”
When it comes to style, Latifah is known for mixing high-luxury brands with streetwear trends. She can be found wearing Gucci, Tony Ward, Comme des Garçons and Thom Browne on red carpets. For footwear, the singer’s favorite shoe lineup includes Air Force sneakers, Converse shoes and classic pumps.
