Sarah Jessica Parker Reunites With ‘Sex and the City’ Stars at Premiere for New Show
Sarah Jessica Parker was all smiles Tuesday night at the New York premiere of her new HBO series, “Divorce.” The actress, who is starring in and executive-producing the show, looked elegant in a Dolce & Gabbana fall ’16 dress paired with her SJP Collection satin pumps.
SJP’s husband, Matthew Broderick, was in attendance, along with Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld. Parker was also joined be her “Divorce” co-stars Molly Shannon, Thomas Haden Church and Abby Elliot.
Though Parker’s new character, Frances, is a departure from her famed role as Carrie Bradshaw, there was a “Sex and the City” feel in the air. Parker’s “City” castmates Mario Cantone and Cynthia Nixon walked the red carpet to support the actress and designer at the HBO premiere.

Parker sat down with Footwear News in May and spoke about “Divorce.” “I love detail,” she said. “That’s what distinguishes you. [‘Sex and the City’ architect] Michael Patrick King always said there are two ways of producing television: You’re either in or you’re out. And if you’re in, you should be coming across the finish line bloody. That’s how you get the best roles and work. You gotta be a bitter ender.”
She also compared being a designer to being a producer, saying, “If we want to grow as a brand, we have to think of every unthought-of opportunity. For me, it’s the same [philosophy] as my world in television and film: There is so much content, so what makes us the reason to stop? We have to be arresting enough. It’s the same in the shoe category. There was no need for another shoe brand. Why are we necessary? We have to be following up with our retailers, answering every question and every single person on Instagram.”
“Divorce” will air Sundays at 10 p.m. ET starting Oct. 9.
