Usher and his wife Jennifer Goicoechea were spotted at the 2024 Apollo Theater Spring Benefit held at The Apollo Theater on Tuesday in New York. Other notable attendees included D-Nice, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Jordin Sparks and Fat Joe.
The historic theater celebrated its 90th anniversary. During the ceremony, Usher performed a medley of his hit songs including, “Yeah!” “Burn,” “Caught Up” and “Confessions Part II.” The performer was given the Icon Award during the benefit. Sparks also took the stage to perform a medley of songs including Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” and Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman.”
For the star-studded occasion, Goicoechea donned a pair of black platform sandal heels. Layered beneath black tights, the style featured peep-toes, thick platform soles and 4 to 5-inch block heels that offered the music industry star a substantial boost in height. Additionally, the footwear included ankle straps fitted with high-shine gemstones that further elevated the footwear silhouette. When paired with black tights, Goicoechea’s footwear acted to elongate her legs, making them look as if they were miles long.
Platform styles are a favorite of many celebrities for their height-boosting abilities. Whether neutral or neon, platforms are staples of the likes of Jessica Simpson, Katy Perry, Florence Pugh, Sofia Vergara and Selena Gomez, among others. These platform styles usually hail from brands like Valentino, Aquazzura, Aldo, Versace and Christian Louboutin.
Paired with her sky-high footwear, Goicoechea wore a black and white mini-dress featuring a collared button-down-esque neckline accompanied by voluminous sleeves and a form-fitted black body. The bodice of her garment was decorated with lace adornments and a sculptural hair-like piece, offering a dainty and feminine touch. Goicoechea’s look was accompanied by slick black leather gloves, a campy camera-shaped bag and high-shine jewelry. The musician’s wife wore her dark hair snatched up into a high ponytail accompanied by chic chunky bangs.
