Miuccia Prada’s new designs already have one fan. “Anora” star Mark Eydelshteyn sat front row that the designer’s latest Miu Miu show on Tuesday. And in an interview following the show that was shared on Instagram, he remarked that one of his favorite parts was the shoes from the collection.
“The shoes,” he said when asked for his favorite piece. “The blue, snakey shoes.” The Italian designer showed her latest collection for her brand Miu Miu in Paris on Tuesday morning. For it, she amassed a cast that spanned names like Gigi Hadid and Amelia Gray, as well as Sarah Paulson, Laura Harrier and Nettspend. The range itself featured all things feminine with brooches, fur stoles, bracelets and prim collars. And for footwear, Miuccia Prada incorporated snakeskin.
Though the shoes were varied from knee-high second-skin boots to open-toe sandal styles, the sneakers boasted snakeskin detailing in both green and blue hues. They were worn by both male and female models. Eydelshteyn was such a fan that he vowed if the brand doesn’t gift him the styles, he will “earn money and then go and buy them.”
The styles offer a perfect next step to Miu Miu’s ongoing and largely successful collaboration with New Balance. The pair have created sneakers that have constantly been listed as some of the “hottest” styles on the Lyst index.
Miu Miu first partnered with New Balance back in 2021, debuting the first styles on the runway. For the spring 2022 season, the company issued its take on the footwear brand’s 574 trainer, fraying its edges. There was a fringed denim option as well as a white nappa leather. That work continued through 2023. But for spring 2024, Miu Miu turned its attention to the 530. That shoe became super popular in its many iterations, one of which included a shearling lining. And there was the mule version of the sneaker.
The new sneaker, which does not appear to be a collaboration with New Balance as some outlets reported, offers some of the same feel, now seemingly influenced by the “Year of the Snake.”
