Madelyn Cline’s Style Transformation Over the Years Includes Barely-There Sandals, Power Pumps & Statement Colors

Madelyn Cline’s star is quickly on the rise, thanks to leading roles in Netflix‘s thriller film “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” and adventure series “Outer Banks.” As “Glass Onion” rises the ranks of the streaming service this week, we’re taking a look back at Cline’s own fashion journey over the years.

Cline’s style has transitioned through more glamour-focused dressing on the red carpet, varying from punchy hues and bodycon silhouettes into more mature, elegant ensembles accented by neutral tones, smooth textures and embellishments from brands including Versace and Alexandre Vauthier. However, her footwear has remained the same, frequently including complementary and coordinating heeled sandals. Off-duty, Cline has also varied her style, incorporating sharp tall boots into her regular rotation of low-top sneakers and sandals from Birkenstock, Vans and Rothy’s.

At the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards, Cline hit the red carpet in a punchy bright red Versace minidress. Her strong-shouldered style, layered over coordinating sheer tights, made a bright statement when paired with matching strappy mules.

For the “Matrix: Resurrections” premiere in December 2021, Cline went dark in a plunging black dress by Alexandre Vauthier. Featuring waist-high slits, the long piece was worn over sheer black tights. Cline’s sleek outfit was complete with gleaming black Jimmy Choo pointed-toe pumps, finished with ankle straps lined with sparkling crystals.

In October, while promoting “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” in London, Cline took the chicly equestrian route in a brown turtleneck sweater, paired with a brown belt over a black and brown-striped scarf-hem midi skirt. Completing her outfit were tall block-heeled leather boots, as well as a sharp brown iteration of Longchamp’s Box-Trot handbag.

At the SCAD Savannah Film Festival in October, Cline posed in a vibrant Roberto Cavalli outfit styled by stylist Mimi Cuttrell. Her two-toned ensemble featured a silky spring 2023 dress with a plunging neckline and vibrant yellow bodice, flowing into an accordion-pleated midi skirt. Completing her outfit was a set of light tan leather Iriza D’Orsay pumps, complete with stiletto heels, hailing from Christian Louboutin.

For the U.S. premiere of “Glass Onion” at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, Cuttrell outfitted Cline in a glamorous deep green Versace gown. Her draped and knotted one-shouldered spring 2018 velvet style was smoothly accented with Reza diamond earrings and a set of pale nude Nudistsong heeled sandals by Stuart Weitzman for the occasion.
