Adidas’ Futuristic 3D-Printed Slip-On Is Releasing Soon

The Adidas ClimaCool gets a wide launch after a limited release last fall.

Last fall, Adidas introduced its newest 3D-printed slip-on with a limited release. Now, the latticed shoe made in a single piece is set to get its wider launch.

The Adidas ClimaCool makes full use of the brand’s 3D printing technology, which you’ll more usually see targeted to midsoles for the 4D line. Here, the shoe is fully printed with different densities in its sole and ample ventilation to keep your feet, well, cool.

Adidas also released a sneaker called the ClimaCool in 2002, and it too focused on allowing the breeze to reach your feet. A relatively straightforward mesh upper limited the barriers between feet and the outside world, while ventilated TPU extended from the upper’s midfoot down to the shank to allow air to come through underfoot.

The idea then was 360-degree breathability, and it’s now executed with even fewer obstacles and at a much lighter weight.

Just like the more limited drop last year, the newer ClimaCool is rendered fully in off-white, including oversized striping like you see in the Adizero running line.

The 3D-printed Adidas ClimaCool will release Friday, May 2, through the Adidas Confirmed app and will also be available in select Adidas stores in major U.S. cities. Pricing is set at $140.
