Adidas Made a Shell for Its Soccer Cleats in Response to the #BootsOnlySummer TikTok Trend
Whether you call it blokecore, terracecore or something else, soccer‘s effect on fashion and sneakers shows no sign of slowing down. Both Nike and Adidas have turned iconic 2000s cleats (or boots) into sneakers this year, but some of the most hardcore believers that “futbol is life” are rejecting practicality and declaring a #BootsOnlySummer.
In response to the hashtag, which has seen a wave Tiktok users taking their studded shoes to the pavement, Adidas has made a TPU shell to make one of its contemporary cleats more wearable in everyday life.
Leaks have emerged for the Adidas F50 Adiframe, a hot pink version of its popular cleat that comes with a transparent cage that wraps around the cleats to offer an experience like a more traditional sole unit. Sample shots were posted by the Hidden.NY Instagram account, and official images have even surfaced alongside a SKU as proof that the concept will actually hit stores.

When it comes time to ball, all you’ll need to do is remove the shell to hit the pitch.
Following the success in recent years of its older Samba and Gazelle models, Adidas has dropped the Predator 2002 IC, Predator Megaride and Koresco National — all of which have roots in the early 2000s for different types of pitches and were part of a recent Kith collaboration.
Later to the game, Nike has also found success in the relaunch of its Total 90 3, which also comes from the same era of the sport.
Some wait will be required, however, as the Adidas F50 Adiframe reportedly isn’t slated to release until March 1, 2026. The #BootsOnlySummer will be forced to go ahead this year with studs to the sidewalks, and time will tell if the TikTok trend still has any legs come 2026.
