American tennis star Coco Gauff is off to a hot start at the 2025 Italian Open, winning both her Friday singles opening match and securing a doubles win with partner Alexandra Eala Saturday morning. During her first match on Friday, Gauff took to the Foro Italico clay courts in an elevated ensemble thanks to her upcoming Miu Miu x New Balance collaboration.
Gauff’s Italian Open opener look was a navy and white tennis kit accented with red, a color palette chosen specifically for the Rome tournament. An April press release described the Miu Miu x New Balance apparel as being “created with a performance first mindset with a color-blocked design, which creates a sharp, clean and modern look.” The design is blocked mostly in navy with the upper portion in white and stripes of red. Co-branding is featured on the kit’s top, sweatbands and socks.
On foot, Gauff debuted the Miu Miu collaboration version of her signature shoe, the New Balance Coco CG2, for the first time in a match. Gauff wore the Miu Miu x New Balance Coco CG2 in a beige, silver and gold colorway and the model has also been previewed in a gray-and-green look. According to New Balance, the Miu Miu-branded iterations of the Coco CG2 maintain the model’s performance technology while adding elements inspired by Gauff’s love of New Balance lifestyle footwear.
Beyond Gauff’s signature model, the latest Miu Miu x New Balance collaboration will also include new colorways of the hit slim-soled 530 SL sneaker. Gauff is expected to wear the sneakers off-court and was featured as the face of the shoe in its April unveiling.
Next, Gauff will meet Poland’s Magda Linette in Internazionali BNL D’Italia women’s singles action Sunday. As of publishing, Gauff and Eala’s next doubles opponents have not been determined.
While Gauff’s on-court attire is sure to generate interest in the upcoming Miu Miu x New Balance collection, fans will have to wait a bit longer for a chance to purchase the collab. It’s set to launch this fall on Sept. 10 from select Miu Miu stores globally and miumiu.com. Gauff will appear at a Miu Miu Select event in New York City the same day. Retail pricing has not been confirmed, but previous Miu Miu x New Balance 530 SL sneakers have been priced at $1,120.
