Serena Williams is launching a makeup line. To announce her debut in beauty, the tennis star was featured on the cover of FN sister publication WWD on Wednesday.

For her cover look, Williams can be seen in a pair of white, strappy platform sport sandals from Nike paired with a Nike x Jacquemus minidress.

Williams’ new makeup line dubbed Wyn Beauty has been six years in the making and has officially launched today with 10 products in 680 Ulta stores. Inclusivity is front and center.

“For years I would travel to countries that didn’t have products that were made for me, but I still had to show up to press, to events and I had to look decent,” Williams told WWD. “I really had to champion doing my own makeup, learning how to do my own face in order to be able to show up years ago, when there weren’t these 20- to 40-shade ranges.”

Williams said that she began with the darkest skin tones first working her way toward the lighter shades to ensure people of all skin tones could use her products, which include skin tint and concealers.

In addition to Wyn, the Nike athlete is focused on her other businesses since retiring from tennis in 2022. In December, Williams launched accessible self-care products via recovery brand Will Perform. She operates Serena Ventures, the venture capital fund she cofounded in 2017 to support underrepresented founders.

While she may not be on the court, Williams continues to use her platform to offer others opportunities. Nike and Williams created the Serena Williams Design Crew design apprenticeship program in 2019, for instance, to promote diversity in design and establish a new generation of design talent at Nike and beyond. In January 2020, the first group of young talents visited the brand’s headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., and worked for six months to produce footwear, apparel and accessories inspired by the tennis icon in the worlds of performance and lifestyle product. Since then, the program has only advanced.
