The Air Jordan 40 is finally here, and once again the Jumpman has doubled down on luxury looks and high-powered performance in a category that has skewed to lower-cost, faux-tech aesthetics. Simply put, no basketball shoe on the market is delivering this level of premium materials and proven tech and engineering in a hoops shoe. Read on to learn more about the Air Jordan 40 “The Classic”.
With the Jumpman’s penchant for playing off of milestone years, the Air Jordan 40 represents a new chapter in the future of the brand. It goes beyond optics, however; the brand has called back long-time design and brand veteran in Jason Mayden, who worked directly with Michael Jordan during his teens. Leo Chang, inarguably among the most influential footwear designers in history, has lent his brain to the design of the Air Jordan 40.
The AJ40 boasts ZoomX cushioning and a full-length Zoom Air strobel; these combined components mark a true first in Nike, Inc. history. Although the design of the shoes seem relatively clean-cut and simple, there’s a laundry list of details that call back to key models of the Air Jordan legacy.
As it stands, the debut colorway of the Air Jordan 40 will be available only on Nike.com (not SNKRS) and select Foot Locker locations in-store and online. These appear to be a limited release, so don’t miss out and see the direct buy links below.
In other upcoming Jordan releases, here’s the latest on next week’s Aqua 8s launch.
